glucose test so early

I came to the lab to get my lab work done this morning and they informed me that I have to stay for a 1 hour glucose test. I am only 5 weeks pregnant. Why would they order a glucose test so early??? I don't remember doing the glucose test this early with my 1st pregnancy.

The drink was horrible! I had to slam it. If I stopped, I never would have finished it. They said they should have my results today. I never received a phone call so I'm assuming everything was okay.

I'm 5ft 1 and about 189lbs. I unfortunately,  did not pass the glucose test so now I'm having to monitor my blood sugar 4 times a day.  Fasting when I wake up, 2 hrs after each meal. It's a pain,  however if my numbers continue to stay normal I'll just have to monitor. No pills or insulin. This has kept me in check with my carbohydrates intake. I am 17 weeks and have not gained any weight. Good luck and I hope you have better results!

I'm a size 18/20 so I guess that's why. I had a healthy pregnancy 5 years ago with no sign of diabetes so I'm hoping this pregnancy is the same. Thank you.

I went through the same thing. I am overweight (in their opinion) and have a family history of diabetes.
