I have been disgnosed for two weeks now and its not the end of the world.  You need to check you blood sugar alot and stay away from carbs.  Bread, starchy food and sugar. I have kept it under control except when I go out to eat at places like pizza ranch or mcdonalds.

I was diagnosed with it at 6 weeks pregnant. I started insulin right away and had to control my diet. It was hard.. Because I love food and sugary drinks but I did my best. It's a Challenge and you get discouraged sometimes especially because it gets worse as you progress in pregnancy. But I had my son at 38 weeks 4 days last Wednesday and he is perfect.. 6lbs 2oz and he came on his own. My delivery was super quick.. Pushed him out in 5 mins. His bloodsugar were perfect and he's in perfect health. My bloodsugars are going back to normal too. I said all that to say it'll be ok mama. Do what u gotta do for your health and your lil ones health.

I was pretty sad when I was diagnosed with GD. they'll monitor your sugar and see how your sugars get. You have to prick yourself 4 times a day. It'll be tough, and extra tough the more you have to keep doing it. But it's possible to stay off diabetic meds and just control it with diet and exercise. I still have horrible days, Esp being a nurse working night shift I literally have to eat like every 1-2 hours. You do what you have to to keep baby healthy until the end. Plus It's a good kick in the butt for you when the baby is out. You don't realize how many carbs and bad stuff you put into your body until you have to prick yourself 4 times a day. It's all about portion controlling too.

I just got told last week that I have diabetes.  I still have my bread and soda. I just watch how much I take in now just not going crazy like I use too. It's not bad or the end of the world. Just watch when you take your blood what does make your numbers go up.

You can control your blood sugar levels with diet and exercise (sometimes medication is needed).  You don't have to give up all carbs/starchy foods but you do need to find a balance between the carbs you eat and protein. You need to eat more frequently to maintain stable levels 3 meals and 3 snacks a day. There are a lot of things you can still have in moderation... it gets easier the longer you are on the diet. :)

I am watching what I eat but more focus on portions. I didn't eat too bad before I found out so I'm just trying to watch the amount I eat. I freaked when I first found out...now it's no biggie. I treat myself to a sweet here and there but watch my snacking and actually try to go by the portions suggested... which I may add is only like 6 pita chips....lol :-) I already can tell a difference if I eat too much...makes me feel terrible. Good luck! :-)

It's not the end of the world, you can control this with diet and exercise. Portion control and all around thinking about how you are affecting your baby will help you do what you need to do. Good luck hope all these babies including my little man will be born healthy and momma's recover quickly.

I was diagnosed with gd at 26 weeks. I control with diet. Some days are better than others though. I take my blood sugar 4 times a day. I'm 33w5d now and everything is right on track. Baby weighed in at 4lbs 13oz last week and 8/8 on biophysical profile.
