Great suggestions! I will ask to bring it home..im scared of throwing up or failing the first test which would result in the longer test!
My Dr sent the juice home with me so I could drink it before I came in and didn't have to wait around. Maybe ask your dr if you can do the same?
With my doc they gave me the juice as soon as I got there for a regular vist at around 28wks. We had the check up then I got my blood drawn so there wasn't much extra waiting around. It made me a little sick to my tummy, but not bad. I know a lot of women dread it, but it's really not a big deal. I've never had to do the 3 hour test so I don't know what it's like. Hopefully you won't have to either.
So for the first test you drink some juice, wait an hour, and have your blood tested. If that comes back positive, you have to fast overnight and go to the lab in the morning, where they will test your blood over a period of a few hours. I had gestational diabetes in my last pregnancy. It's a tough diet to follow, but not life ending.
I'm doing it Friday at 24 weeks. I'm also not looking forward to it, afraid I'm gonna throw up the juice!!
My Dr just had me keep record of my blood sugar for a week at home with my first since my husband has the diabetic testing meter. I couldn't hardly keep anything down during my pregnancy...Doubt I could have done that test in office.
Here where I am they want it done at 24 weeks and no longer than 28 weeks. I'm now 36 and just didn't have the time with a 4 yr old to go and sit around the medical clinic for an hour
You drink the juice....an hour later they draw your blood then they call with the results. They do it at 28 weeks. Its not bad :)
It's actually not bad at all. I had the orange flavor which tasted like an orange soda
Ok! I am 21 weeks so i still have a bit to go...ah!
They do it at 28 weeks. Just had mine done last week it's not that bad the worst thing Is the waiting around. Xx
