healthcare??

Is there much difference between the way ultrasounds and appointments work in canada, usa, and europe? I live in canada but i see a lot of posts about only having two or three ultrasounds throughout the whole pregnancy.. I have had one appointment and ultrasound at least every 4 weeks till 28 weeks, then every two weeks until 35 weeks (im 33 weeks atm) then every week. Just curious on how other peoples experiences are going. I wish i could see my baby everyday!! I am also not high risk, our hospital does this for everyone.

Wow, i guess my hospital just likes to look at all the babies haha. I have had at least 8 ultrasounds, all regular appts. One was a second anatomy scan because they found it hard to get a good photo of her heart cause she was so active. I feel sad for people who dont get ultrasounds monthly, i love looking at my baby and it just fills my heart with so much love.

I live in NY I have one done every 4 weeks, but I'm considered "high risk".

I live in California USA and am very high risk. I get them every 2 weeks. It has its ups and down sides. I have to drive 2 hours for a 10 minute ultra sound.

My last pregnancy I had 3 ultrasounds which is what is considered normal. This pregnancy I have had much, much more ultrasounds... so far this pregnancy I have had 8 ultrasounds (im 27 weeks)... and will have 3 or 4 more... im not considered high risk at this point... but going into the pregnancy I had high blood pressure and the first ultrasound the baby was measuring smaller than she should from the beginning... Additionally there are lakes of blood in my placenta. .. so they wanted to monitor how the baby is growing and to make sure she doesnt stop growing.... at 27 weeks... she has caught up and weighs about 2.4 lbs and is is measuring a day ahead now. :)

I'm in Ontario Canada and it is uncommon to have more then two ultrasounds unless there is a concern.

Here in the US they will only give you two unless they feel something is wrong or you are considered high risk. For some reason that is the only amount insurance will cover unless medically necessary. I know I had to have three cause at my 20 week scan he was not wanting to cooperate and they could not get a picture of one of the arteries of his heart so at my next appointment they did another one to get the shot they needed. I went last week to a college that has an Ultrasound program there and got a 3D ultrasound for free and it was so cool to see more of what he will look like.
