how effective is primrose oil?

i'm 40 weeks tommorow, i want to try evening primrose vaginaly, i read that orally it doesn't make a difference...so have anyone had experience with it? how many capsules do i put up there before bed? for how many days did you use it before you had a baby, if it worked? i had a membrane sweep last tuesday, i was 1 cm dilated (but thats probabbly because its my second baby) i lost my mucous plug/bloody show last wednesday, so i'm guessing i am 2 or 3 cm now after the membrane sweep.. i'll ask for another membrane sweep at an appointment tommorow..so how likely is primrose oil would work if i am about 2 cm and had a bloody show?

Oh, also my my.midwife said orally/vaginally are the same.  But just my opinion... If your plug is already gone I'd be careful shoving anything up there.

I was told to open the capsules and only put the oil in there.  Like i said thuogh.. It seems like it might be risky putting stuff up tghere if your plug is gone.  I'm just paranoid though & don't want to risk infection.  Lol

I was told to start taking epo around 37-38 weeks.  My midwife has me taking 1500mg a day.  I'm 40+5 and I still take it everyday.  I lost my giant bloody plug two days ago (no sweep or anything & ftm).  Anyway, still pregnant. Lol

My midwife doesn't do cervical checks unless necessary.  The only one I had was at 36 weeks & I was 1cm & 20% effaced.

If anything I was told you were suppose to start it around week 36 to make any type of difference(so a few weeks before you are due)..but could be different for everyone:) ..I have been taking 1000 mg. One orally in the morning and then you stick one pill up your vagina as far is you can go right before bed. The heat of your body will dissolve it.
