induction question

Hi, ladies a ftm here. So I'm 4 days away from my due date and been 2 cm dilated past few weeks. I'll be induced on April 30th. My question to you ladies who have been induced is,  what should I expect?  What should and shouldn't I do before getting induced? I'm scared and nervous.  I know I can just Google the info but I would rather hear from those who experienced it.  Since everyone's different.  Any feedback is appreciated!

I was induced with my second and honestly it was not to bad the contractions started after the cervidil which softens your cervix so I did not ha e to have the patocin. I here that if you get the patocin the contractions are hard and come on fast. Also for being induced most mama's get the epideral becuase of how hard the labor starts

I was induced with my first.
They stripped my membranes and then instantly put me in Pitocin (this was a Wednesday at 8pm). I was only about 4cm dilated when I asked for the epidural - they said they couldn't give one to me because I wasn't dilated enough, but by Thursday night I couldn't take it anymore, I was in SO much pain so they finally gave it to me (Thursday night at midnight) but it didn't work at ALL, i still felt everything and then Friday at 6am they broke my water thinking it would help, and at noon Friday they came in and said I was still only 4cm, so at 3pm I was essentially forced into a C-section because I wasn't dilating anymore and I was in so much pain I just wanted it to be over :(
Because my epidural didn't work - I had to be asleep during the C-section, meaning that my bf at the time (her dad) couldn't be in the room either. And because of how long I was in labor for and how much CRAP they pumped into me, Riley wasn't breathing when she was born and had to be resuscitated and spend 3 days in the NICU. She was almost a day and a half old before I could even hold her.
It was horrible enough to make me rethink wanting any more kids. But I'm 19wks along and have done LOTS of research about induction and I refuse to let that happen again as I want a Med free, Intervention free birth this time.
Probably didn't help hearing my horror story, lol. But I figured I'd share - cause it sucked!

Don't Google, it make your anxiety higher. I had to be induced for the same reason and because my liver count was sky high due to gall bladder failing. I honestly would recommend getting an epidural as contractions hurt a lot worse then going into labor yourself. But you will do great, I promise! Remember that you will be holding your baby soon and the only thing that matters is delivering her safely

If her blood pressure gets to high it could really put her baby at risk. She needs a it!

Yes I was induced for my first because I was two weeks over due I went in because I was tired of being pregnant now lol so they induced me I went in I believe Thursday was on the inducing meds my contractions came so hard and then at 8 am Friday they were going to break my water but right before they did it broke on its own. The contractions hurted so bad I wanted a epidural they gave me one then at 4:38 Friday I had my son. I just had my daughter 2 weeks ago and I had to b induced again which I really didn't want because of the pain the first time but they had to because my water started to break Monday night at like 9 9:30 I went to the hospital Tues morning around 11 they induced me I was on that pitocin for what it seemed like forever because I wasnt dialating and had no contractions but I finally started having them that night and at 6:38 am she was born all natural it was great

Pitocin does make labor harder and more painful. With having had both natural and induced, if it is just a planning thing to be induced I say just wait it out.. but if it is a must I say get the epidural early and it makes everything better. I got my epidural right before it was too late best thing I ever did. But still prefer all natural with no meds.

Is there a reason for an induction this early? I know you said your due date is in 4 days, but I think unless there is a medical need for an induction, I would avoid it at all costs! Seriously, if labor doesn't happen as fast as they want it to, they will do a cs. If you can I'd try natural methods of induction until then and see if something else can get labor going.

Thank you everyone! I Truly appreciate it. JEN0221, they were going to wait a week but decided not to. By Thursday I'll be 40 weeks + 2 days. I assumed that's why. I'm just praying that,  I won't be waiting 3 days till I give birth after being induced.  I walked, exercised,  warm bath and stuff.  I don't know what else to do. I'm not even having contractions like that.  I'm sorry for the ramblings but I'm frustrated now.

I have heard .... perhaps tales but why not give it a go if you like any of them anyway. .....  four friends swear by pedicures to get things rolling.  Online I read about eggplant parmparmesan also pineapple.   Also "doing the deed".  All of these are supposed to get things rolling.   Ftm so not sure if it works.  Good luck to you!!!  :)

My doctor also scheduled me to induce labour on April 30 and adviced me to have an epidural. For the last two deliveries I either went when my water broke or the contractions are regular never been induced. But I was ok with the idea until I read some comments here OMG it seems not as easy as I thought! But again experiences are different and I hope all goes well on that day for both of us.

I was induced last Friday didn't give birth until Sunday afternoon I'm a ftm and my son weighed 9lbs I had him natural. The induction process is slightly painful I was only one centimeter when I went in for my induction the doctors kept coming in my timing pushing me to have a c section

You can just refuse the induction if you like. There seems to be no real medical reason for it, or if there is they certainly didn't make it clear to you, and doing an induction at that date in a healthy, normal first pregnancy is actually against best medical practice. As a first time mum particularly, your body can take longer to prepare, and forcing it to open up before it's ready can be more intense than natural labour and lead to extra stress on baby. Up to 2 weeks past a due date is totally safe and normal... I'd definitely refuse if it was me, unless there was some medical reason it was needed like preeclampsia or something serious. Not everyone has problems of course, but early induction certainly raises your risk of problems and chances of caesarian... And so I would just go with the lower risk option, rather than the option that makes it easier for a doctor to plan their weekend of golf.

I was induced and it was very painful! I'm trying my hardest to go in naturally this time. The first time my contractions were so bad I had to have pain meds asap,and I do not recommend it at all. If possible refuse it if there is nothing medically wrong. Good luck, no matter what you choose :)

You can try nipple stimulation. There are some essential oils that can help get things going as well. Go online and see what worked for other moms. There are pages of things you can find if you take the time to do the research. But I agree that if they haven't given you a medical reason why, they just want to get you moving, to me that wouldn't be a good enough reason for an induction. JMO. Only you can decide if you want to go that route or not. And just because your doctor advises it, doesn't mean you have to do it. If you are anything like me, determined to let it happen on its own, I wouldn't go for it. Best of luck to you with whatever you end up deciding!! :)
