internal check!

What's an internal check like? I will be 37 weeks and my doc said she will be doing an internal next appointment.
I am planning a scheduled c-sec. Is an internal really required? Makes me really uncomfortable

I had mine last week, but I've been pretty swollen since around 30 weeks, so it was very uncomfortable, I did lose my mucus plug 2 hours after though...not sure if that was good or bad

Yeah its about the same as a pap I suppose, except they don't hold your vagina open with tools. They just stick a few fingers up there to feel the cervix. Personally I can't feel anything when they do it, it never bothers me. But you may feel some pressure or poking and spot a little afterward. I prefer cervix checks to paps if I had to pick.

If we can get thru pap test lol, internal check up is nothing. Especially since they are using fingers instead of metal. Still uncomfortable but u will be fine. I always tell myself let me get it over with. Thank goodness my clinic doesnt do the checkup until I go in the triage and ready to have the baby lol. Goodluck.

I have to have my first one next week & I'm not looking forward to it either!! I've asked around a lot & even my doctor admitted that it's a bit uncomfortable. Apparently they are sticking their fingers up into the cervix to check for dilation-one girl compared it to fisting & said when it was done she felt like everything was going to fall out...terrific! Another girl said oh it's not so bad, not comfortable but not the worst thing ever. So. I'm not psyched for it but stressing isn't going to make it any easier try to breathe & relax the best you can!!

I'm sure they'll be checking to see if you've started dilating or if everything looks normal. It's necessary for the health of your baby...
