life insurance... yes or no?

So I work for such a small company that there is no health insurance and no benefits whatsoever. I have Obama care to for health coverage which is essentially a joke.  However my husband and I are considering purchasing a life insurance policy before our little is born to make sure that she is taken care of if something happens. We don't know if it should be on me as mom or him as dad. Also don't know if its a good idea even. Don't know what kind of policy to get either. Anyone thinking about it? Anyone know anything about life insurance? Good idea? Bad idea?

Amount you get depends if you both work, your current lifestyle, college. You would need to get enough to replace annual wages and possibly college until the child becomes an adult at which time can presumably take care of his or herself. Don't let an agent talk you into a whole life policy! If you get insurance, I would suggest a term life policy

We have a policy on me. When we got it I was the bread winner and didn't have the health history of my husband (rectal cancer at 18). My premiums were much lower than his.  They are about $35 and month for and $100,000 policy. I got it through state farm which is where our auto and home insurance is through. Now my hubby makes the money but we still wouldn't be able to afford a policy for him. I feel better knowing that if anything happened to me he would be able to afford my funeral anything nd be able to continue working and supporting our children with that money.

I think it's a great idea especially since your company doesn't offer any!
