local anesthesia or general?

Hi ladies, ive been told tht i will have a c section prior to my due date. However, they will have to run a few tests to check if local anesthesia is better or the general one. Iv been on claxean injections n asprin through out my pregnancy since my daughter was a really low birth weight. So wat do u think is better local or general?

You don't get an epidural usually with an elective c-section, it's just a spinal which is just a shot. General anesthesia isn't recommend as it effects the baby, and more recovery issues. Stick with a spinal I've had spinal & epidural for c-section and spinal is better I'm having it again on the 1st

Yea iv had the local wid my 1st c section. I knw it isnt tht bad. Its just tht wid the asprin tht i take it might cause problems wid the epidural. I have n oppointment wid doc do discuss all the issues but i actually knw a few ppl who opted for general so i thot it wud b a gud idea to get more opinions.

I read that general is done for emergencies only you might want to check with your Dr for correct options.

Also with general it affects the baby and makes them drowsy and possibly need help breathing at first. They would have to intubate you to protect your airway just in case you vomit. Plus you don't want to be asleep when you little one comes into this world. There is nothing more wonderful then hearing your babies first cry. I've had three c-sections and was awake for all three and it isn't scary.

Local.....with general there is more issues with recovery and waking up and possibility of fluid in the lungs.
