How to keep cramping/contractions consistent

So for the past nearly 48 hours I've had contraction like cramps that are about 6 minutes apart and they continue for hours. They hurt quite a bit, take my breath away, and I know they'll get worse before my sweetheart arrives as this is baby #5 but I've not experienced early labour like this before. I'm wondering if there is anything I can try to encourage the process along?

Thanks, I'm ready to give almost anything a try, not use to early labour lasting so long! I guess final baby has to prove how easy I've had it before, lol
