membrane sweep

I've seen posts on here about membrane sweeps and now wish I had paid more attention. My OBGYN did one on me yesterday at 36+1, because I am to be induced at 37+3. Has any one here had one that early on that sent them induced to labor the first time, or did induced not take more than 1 sweep? I read it could take up to 48 hours to work, and when she did it she said I was 1+ cm dialated and my cervix is softened. I have had pretty consistent cramping but no actual contractions yet.

I had one at 37 weeks. I was 4 cm dilated and my cervix was 80% soft. I thought it was going to send me into labor but it didn't. I got induce at 39 weeks.

Interesting.  My sister had two sweeps as well and neither of them sent her into labor, but her inducement went very quickly because she was 5 cm by the time they induced her..

I had 3 sweeps done. Finally the last one took and best part it was done the day before I was to be induced. Was still in labor 24 hours later so the doctor broke my water as agreed for the induction. 2 hours later my first child was born.

Can I ask if the membrane sweep is painful? I'm scheduled to have one in a couple weeks and I'll admit I'm a little afraid..

It wasn't comfortable,  but it wasn't super painful either.

I had a membrane sweep with my first and I went into labor 3 hours after I got it done. I was also 5cm dialated and 70% effaced.
