nausea while brushing teeth?

I'm 10 weeks, and for the most part my nausea has subsided.  But every time I brush my teeth, I get nauseous.  I've tried switching toothpastes to see if it's the flavor, but it's not.  It seems to be just having the foam in my mouth, it makes me feel like I will puke.  Anyone else have this issue?

I'm 20 weeks and cleaning my teeth still makes me gag and nauseous. When I had severe HG it made me throw up quite a few times. I just grin and bear it because with me it's not the actual toothpaste but my gag reflex. It's gross and to be honest I don't see it leaving until the end because my stomach is still so sensitive.

I'm 25 weeks and I still get this. I end up being sick a few times a week because of it. I find that a few things help a little though - eating something small like a piece of toast about 20 mins before I brush my teeth, having gel toothpaste and closing my eyes to visualise something completely unrelated to brushing my teeth, whilst brushing my teeth!

I'm 36w 4d and I still get nausea while brushing my teeth. As soon as I feel it coming on I stop, stand up straight look up and take deep breaths through my nose, once the feeling goes away I continue. Hang in there and good luck!

I'm 6 months and I still get nauseous from time to time brushing my teeth... it can be just anything from the taste to the idea of feeling the foam... and when it comes to brushing my tongue I gag! Ugh! So I try to compensate by flossing 3x daily...

Even not pregnant it used to make me sick. Switching to fluoride free stopped that and my tooth sensitivity.

Try standing up straight when you brush your teeth. I seem to only gag and have nausea when I lean over too far. Also cold water works better. When I brush my tongue I try to stick it out and brush rather than sticking the brush further in my mouth.  Good luck!!!

I have the same problem... this pregnancy I still have it every day and I'm at 24 weeks. I had it so throughout my last pregnancy, too. I will not go to the dentist while pregnant for this reason. Haven't found anything that really helps, but once I'm done, I feel fine the rest of the day.

I had this problem all throughout first trimester. I mentioned it to my aunt (pediatric dentist) and she said to try kids toothpaste bc it doesn't foam and tastes different. I'll admit I thought it was crazy but I was like what could it hurt to try. Low and behold though it worked!! I am 26 wks and still using Colgate Kids to brush my teeth with no problems!

Omg I thought I was insane when this happened to me. Unfortunately it has not stopped just not as bad. I would actually throw up, now its just gagging at 26 weeks. Try rinsing after every section of your mouth

The only toothpaste that work for me are the cinnamon flavored one and my kids toothpaste. With the cinnamon I gag if I don't spit fast enough but I don't have any problems when I use the kids toothpaste.

I did with my last pregnancy!  I used really cold water and less toothpaste. Helped a bit.  It went away sometime in the 2nd trimester.  I also could not use my hair dryer in the morning as it made me throw up! I had to swtich to showering at night! It will pass eventually!

Yes! Ugh, I even threw up from it a few times. My gag reflex was way more sensitive but even if I didn't go near it, I'd still get sick. I think mine went away around the 12 week, I haven't had issues since :)
