okay I'm confused????

So this maybe Braxton Hicks but people say they shouldn't hurt. And I keep having these little cramps that feels like ima start my period. They're pretty low feelings too that come and go. But mostly have them when he is not moving around. Is this the same thing or is it something else?

My doctor describes contractions as strong menstrual like cramps. I've had contractions since 32 or 33ish weeks but up until last week (35 weeks) I was not dilated. He said that if they come every 3-5 min I would need to go to l&d.

I'm 31w3d and they don't last long about a minute but they come and go so often even in my sleep, sometimes wakes me up
