There's a brand of paint with no VOC called Valspar. It's really the only paint I would use. You can find it at Home Depot or Lowe's.
Water based paints are fine
My husband was a painter for years. According to him, the toxic fumes are called VOC, I don't remember what that stands for. Volatile something... Anyway. All latex paint will say "voc free" on the can. But unless you are, painting something pure white, they will put a ton of pigment in the can. The pigments DO contain high VOC. I hope that made.sense. Basically, no. Get someone else to paint for you.
Stain, oil based paint, and spray paint are unhealthy even if you aren't pregnant. So definitely stay away from those.
Hope that helps. :)
I didn't with my first. This time I did. Ventilation is key.
I painted the nursery. Latex paint in well ventilated area.
I spray painted and it made me really dizzy. Acrylic paint should be fine, just make sure it's formaldehyde free. That chemical causes birth defects.
