I picked a clinic that I could easily get to (public transit) and was in the same network as my doctor and my ob. Then I went through the doctor's bios and and policies to find one I that was accepting new patients and I could agree with.
I talked to my insurance company to see what doctors they cover. Then I asked my friends for recommendations and checked the list from insurance to see who matched up and made my selection from there.
You don't have to interview or speak with your pediatrician before birth, but you can if you want. We chose one highly recommended by a good friend and provided her name to the hospital. When my son was born she came and saw him the next day and she did his circumcision as well.
I looked up reputable pediatric office close to my home and made a list of Drs I would want my baby to have. Then I went down the list and googled them for extra info then I also had to check to see if they were accepting new newborn patients. She even came to the hospital when my baby was born a gave a few check ups and set up regular wellness appointments before we checked out of the hospital. Loved her so much that she sees all of my kiddos!
I contacted a couple pediatrician offices and interviewed them. There was a sample list of questions I used from bump.com took a couple wks to see the drs but if you tell them how far along you are maybe they will rush your appt. I hope so just in case you deliver early. The pediatrician you choose will usually see your baby within a few days of you leaving hospital.
