My baby only weighs 4 pounds and I'm 35 weeks and my doctor is inducing me at 38 wks because she's "small". Should I be concerned? Will she gain more weight on the next 3 weeks? What if she doesn't?

Yea and the doctor said there are two types of small babies...sickly ones and just small ones...and she said that normal babies these days are about 8 to 9lbs. So they consider anything less small...and that my son will prob be around 6 or even 7. I thought that was fine and she said back in the 1980s that would be normal but not anymore...and your baby's size kinda goes by yours when you were born... I wouldn't worry too much. As long as he or she is healthy in there that's what matters. I was small when I was born and all throughout life till high school...I finally had a growth spurt and went from the shortest and smallest to one of the tallest although I'm still skinny.  Good luck mama keep us posted

I was only 5lbs 2oz when I was born and was full term. I was tiny but completely healthy. She will probably gain more weight but even if she is still small doesn't mean she won't be healthy and thrive. :)

They are doing the same to me...They say he is less then 10 percentile and they so far are taking him a week early...I have ultrasounds every week to monitor his growth. And she said the only way they won't take him that early is if he has a growth spurt...But it's not likely. And so that's our plan so far...Oh and they are checking to make sure he doesn't begin to decline as far as health in the womb.

Most docs will check to see if baby is still growing if it's not they should induce.. It happened to my friend and her doc was going to induce if baby wasn't still growing however she went into labour 10 days earlier then her due date and Baby was a little bigger then they estimated things will work out just trust your doc they know best
