quick question

just seconds/minutes after birth, is it ok to take pictures of baby with camera flash ON? (not just phone camera, but the professional type camera)

I know it might not be required, but on auto setting the flash might go off, and I don't want that to affect my new born's eyes ...

It should be fine. I take lots of pictures just after birth.

mine all stared at me a few minutes AFYER birth then when taken for the bath went back to closed eyes. I've had the same midwife for 3 and she laughed last time about our "routine" . either way is fine, just remember they haven't dealt with all the new stuff before and will find their own preference.

With my daughter she did open her eyes shortly after birth (blinking) but she did have them closed quite a bit. You gotta think they have been in a dark place and never been exposed to direct light. It may shock/scare them. But they do get used to it after a while

It baby's eyes will probably be closed so as long as they r, then I don't it will be a problem.  Also, even if his eyes r open as long as he's not looking directly at the flash it shouldn't be a problem.  U just have to see what the lighting conditions r once baby is born.  goodluck..
