quitting smoking

Hi ladies
I've just found out I'm pregnant with our first and beyond excited!
The problem is that I'm a smoker. Is it better to quit cold turkey or to slowly cut down? I've heard varying opinions re sending body into shock etc. Only seeing our gynae in 3 weeks time.

Any advice?

Im a smoker as well and when I quit cold turkey I ended up going to the ER because I was bleeding some and the doctor told me it was due to shock... My advice is to cut back slowly until you quit. My obgyn also told me that I was able to use the patches every other day for assistance

I smoked when i first found out. I decided to give it till the end of that pack and i was done. I was told if i felt like i needed it go ahead and take a few drags but i never needed to. That was back in April,  I'm now due in 3 weeks and i still haven't touched one. When i was pregnant with my first baby i saw a poster that said "they can't say no" with a bunch of babies and alcohol, drugs and cigarettes. That poster made me cry do i had to quit almost the second i found out i was expecting. Good luck!

Quit cold turkey with my first baby and this one too. Days 3-5 are the worse with cravings but once you're on your second week, you should be good. Distance yourself from other smokers for the first couple weeks so you dont smell it. When I tried to quit, not pregnant, I would smoke more when I tried to cut back.

Literally as soon as I got the test result back saying positive I threw them in the bin. I did this when I was 6 weeks pregnant I'm not 38 weeks pregnant. It's what ever is best for you but I would say to you to try your best to not smoke. I work with 2 girls that smoked all through their pregnancy and their girls are fine
