I want to punch the owner of my birth center in the face! 38+4

38+4, FTM, planned homebirth whenever this baby decides to come.  WHY ON EARTH PEOPLE THINK IT IS OKAY TO MAKE LAST MINUTE CHANGES IS BEYOND ME.  So, I chose this birth center because I was referred to ONE specific midwife.  I was told that I did not want the owner as a midwife.   So, I've seen this midwife my entire pregnancy, she's already done my 36 week home visit & I absolutely adore her.  Well the owner moved into a new building a few weeks ago & ran into some financial trouble so she fired all her midwives & midwife students so she could have more business herself.  My midwife has continued to see me despite the drama... well now the owner emailed me ans asked me for directions to my house! I'm sorry, but I've met the woman twice! She was rude one time.  I do not want her at my house for home birth.  I would much rather birth in a hospital than have her.

How can someone be that stupid & insensitive to change things as drastic as your care provider so close to the end?  My midwife still plans on delivering my baby, I'm not even sure if she will get paid for it though, even though I am paid up at the birth center.  The other midwives were told to tell us (their clients) "it just didn't work out".  Wtf is that?, I just don't want this other lady showing up at my house.  I emailed her & told her "i can give you directions as long as it's solely for my chart & not for you to show up at my house when I am in labor" yadda yadda "no offense but I don't know you & the thought of anyone else delivering my baby other than my midwife makes me extremely uneasy & panicky".

I needed to vent.  Would this upset anyone else?  I understand if I had chosen an obgyn they do rotations & on call stuff... but I specifically chose a freestanding center so I could have one care provider throught the duration of my pregnancy.   I think it's soooo disrespectful to do this to women about to go into labor any day now.

Thanks ladies... I did calm down after talking to my husband & midwife. It was just unexpected & frustrating.

My midwife still plans on delivering my baby,  but this owner just gets on my nerves. This wasn't the only change she made last minute that affected me, but it was the one that got me the most riled up! Hormones!  Lol

Seems like your midwife can still get paid thru your contract....

This is only my opinion. I know nothing of midwives....

It does sound like malpractice of some sort. Again... Only an opinion.

Just try to calm down.  Stress can be so bad. You can get a copy of your chart. You should be able to do that for free since she's made such drastic changes. You can call the medical board and report.

You are so right. I would be so upset. I am sorry you are going through this. You should not just have to change everything bc this lady seems selfish and money hungry. I am glad your midwife is still delivering you. Hopefully you guys can come up with her to get paid.  Like she deserves.  Good luck.

Because she is rude, she is a stranger,  I do not want her in my house  & other people who have used her have had terrible experiences & I did not sign a contract for her.  My contract exclusively states that the other midwife is my midwife.

To my opinion if she is a license midwife had delivered multiple babies I do not see why she can't fill in for the absent one.
