smoking while pregnant

I am 24 weeks pregnant and I am having a very hard time quitting. Are there mothers who have had this problem. What effects did it have on your baby?

Do your best, it is hard to quit so don't beat yourself up if you are struggling. I cut back and tried to quit with each pregnancy but was unable to completely quit. My kids were all very healthy weight my smallest at thirty six weeks was eight and a half pounds, biggest nine pounds.

Quitting cold turkey will cause withdrawal to u and the baby.

With my first I quit completely and almost lost him due to the stress at 28 weeks. I was told he would have all kinds of problems even if he was born at full term (at which he was by the grace of god). I was so scared it wasn't even funny. Needless to say he was born full term 39weeks 5days 6lbs 5oz 18 1/2 inches long. He has been my child that gets sick the most and has many educational delays but other than that he is fine. With my second my Dr.(I got a new one because the first continued to push for me to completely quit even knowing what happened with my first) suggested that I do not quit completely and to stick to 3 cigarettes a day. She was born at 39weeks completely healthy 7lb 10oz 21 1/2 inches long. No problems and she is 5 today. She actually is my child that never gets sick. This baby (due in April) My Dr. (saeme Dr as my second) suggested that I do the same as I did with my second. So I am only smoking 3 cigerettes a day, one in the morning, one at lunch time, and one before bed. This baby is measuring a 2 days ahead. So I believe and pray that this baby will be fine and healthy like my second. Even everyone in my family says that if it takes me smoking 3 cigarettes a day to be able to carry this baby full term and not have to worry about miscarriage then do it. It's better to me that I am able to carry full term than to go threw the whole scary processes of almost losing my baby.

On a good day I smoke about 5 cigarettes, but when I'm stressed and depressed that number doubles. I will look into getting an ecig, I'm really worried about what all my smoking is doing to my little girl. I do think I am smaller than what I am supposed to be. Thank you all for your input.

I'm preggo with #4 hadn't quit completely with any of them, always seriously cut back as much as I could and last pregnancy and this one may have one regular cigg a day sometimes but rarely 2,and use the e cigg the rest of the time. My dr was ok with that...have had all healthy babies, healthy weights, no issues. So if cutting down is the best you can do, it's definitely better then not doing anything about it

The day before I found out I was pregnant, I couldn't stand the smell of a cigarette an I had just smoked the day before. I would get sick to my stomach.  That was the last time I smoke so it was pretty easy. I also smoked marijuana an that was kinda hard to stop. I stopped at 7 months. I'm almost 8 months now so almost 2 months clean. I did go through withdrawal for about a week. Cold sweat,  vomiting,  not eating, but it was a good decision for e an my bby it's better for them to go through it now than when they are born. It's easier for them now. Hope that helps

I quit smoking at 5 weeks because it made me so sick! My girlfriend is also prego and she has been struggling to quit! She got an e CIG from the gas station and it has helped! But her doctor told her if she can't quit and it's stressing her out then she shouldn't quit fully! The stress is worse for the baby then smoking. So she is smoking 3 cigs a day now and she's 28 weeks. Smoking gives lower birth weights and can cause lung issues for your baby. Stress can cause you to lose your baby. So its really iffy either way. Good luck! I was thankful I was so sick or I would still be smoking because its so hard to quit!

I am 34 and a half and haven't fully. I don't want to say excuses but I live with my BF and his Two kids one is in school (6yrs old) and the other is home with me all day she is 3. Plus two crazy pups. I about loose my mind when I don't have those few breaks. I cut back a lot but still smoke at leasta half a pack. My bany girl was measuring a little small up until yesterday now I am measuring 2 days ahead. Some say its worst to quit all together bc the baby will withdrawal as well and the extra stress is not good. Just try to be conscious and cut back where n when you can. dumdum lolly pops have helped a lot! To prolong a craving. Hope this helps you and good luck mama!
