sore muscles or sciatic?

Can anyone who's had sciatic problems please tell me how you know the difference between just more sore muscles and aches and sciatic problems? I'm 23+5 and since yesterday it feels almost like a pulled muscle in my left lower back but it kind of shoots the pain down when I walk. Any thoughts?

Thanks ladies! I talked to my midwife today and after assuring her it wasn't preterm back labor, she agreed it could help to see the chiropractor. I'll call for an appt tomorrow :)

I get sciatica. It is horrible. Sciatica typically starts in your buttock and goes down your leg, usually it is only on one side. I use a heating pad and stretch. My doctor suggested getting an adjustment, but I just can't seem to do that, it freaks me out. Lol. With my last pregnancy, I did not get full relief until she was delivered.

Getting adjusted by a chiropractor helps (you can get adjusted when you're pregnant). Good luck

If you're having shooting pain then it's a nerve. Shooting pain is usually associated with nerves. I have sciatica even when I'm not pregnant. You could still have a sore tight or pulled muscle and still have an aggravated nerve.  Many women get sciatica in pregnancy due to our pelvis constantly shifting which allows the bone to compress the nerve
