tdap vaccine while pregnant?

Seriously debating this one...I want to protect my little angel, but not sure if that means getting the vaccine it declining it. I would feel horrible if she got pertussis, but worse if she has laying effects from being vaccinated in utero. The lack of studies on the long term effects make me nervous. Any thoughts?

Hubby got his tdap a gew weeks agi and I will be getting mine in the next few weeks. We will both get the flu shot. Whatever you get now will help protect baby when baby is born. Like alid said, whooping cough is on the rise so I would not risk it.

I'm a nurse too and I fully support this vaccine, as well as the flu vaccine. There has been a resurgence of pertussis and it's dangerous for kids - esp infants. The flu is bad for anyone but again, esp infants. I'm even having my husband and father in law (who lives with us) get it as well.

I got it right before he was born. Pertussis is a terrible terrible thing to watch a baby go through. I got a flu shot too while pregnant.

Its a personal choice if you do research you will find just as many reasons not to as you will to vaccinate. Medical journals not Google. I personally will not be getting the TDap or the flu.

I am a nurse also and got mine last week. I will also be getting my flu vaccine at my next visit. It's up to us to protect our babies and to be honest I  making my husband get both vaccines as well since he's taking just as much part in her care.

Ultimately its your decision, as a nurse I got it, its not worth the risk to not get it for me. With that being said however I do refuse to get the flu vaccine. Besides tdap makes your arm sore for a few days and with my first I got the injection after I had her and then I had a hard time holding her for a few days due to soreness

I got my shot at 26 weeks, I have been fine. The choice is yours but I think this shot is pretty safe
