ughhhh.. doctor had me so confused!

Went in for my doctor visit today and was told I would only see the doctor 3 times during my pregnancy. Beginning, middle, and delivery. And pretty much if any complains came up I would be seeing him more often. On my first visit back in May he told me my expected due date would be December 7th and was 9w1d that day. Well today I'm supposed to be 26w5d and he told me during part of our conversation that I was about 23wks. I corrected him and told him no I'm 26w5d based on the first visit estimate he had given me. Than he said oh you're about 24w - 25w. But now he has me confused. Wth! Had this happened to you ladies? Do you think I should get a second opinion?

I'm with Kaiser in North California and I agree with what the previous mom said. My story is exactly the same as hers. Which kaiser do you belong to,  maybe we can suggest a doctor in your kaiser.

I have Kaiser in Southern California. Ive seen my doc every month, im going on 33 weeks and after 35 ill see her weekly. My doc's schedule is pretty restricted but she makes sure i get in. Now are you seeing a physichian asst once a month? It could be okay, theres not much going on besides the anatomy scan at 20weeks until birth. Id still look at changing, sounds like its either a overwhelmed doc or lazy. And the dates being off is strange. Mine still goes by the one from my last period, not the scans even though my baby is measuring big.

When I had Kaiser I seen my nurse practitioner pretty much all my appointments except for two.  Then when I delivered it wasn't even my doctor it was an on call Kaiser Dr.   So glad I do not have Kaiser anymore.

Thank you do much ladies! I'll look into calling tomorrow to see what my options are. I want to make sure both my baby and I are taken seriously and felt like we matter. I have to be our voice! :)

I have kaiser and i go once a month. Once i hit 35w i will go every 2 weeks. I also have the choice to see my regular obgyn doctor or a midwife. So you should really look into getting a new doctor for you and your childs health

They measure the baby, that's how they come up with these dates...With my first child i had two due dates the 6th and the 14th of February... she was born on the 3rd... it's always a give or take 2wks. Don't worry about it. And if you want to see the dr more often let him know that, and see what he can do.
I have to see my Dr once a week, and get an ultrasound once a week. Cause of health reasons. Maybe they can make some exception for you, maybe once a month. It doesn't hurt to ask.

Dates often change post scan when they get more accurate physical measurements so could that be it? Also not surw whether this is your first but with each pregnancy after a 'normal' pregnancy and delivery they may tend to see less of you unless there arw concerns with subsequent pregnancies so again something just to bare in mind... mind u... im from the uk...maybe different in the US

With my last child, I went once a month until my third trimester (that's excluding the other appts like ultrasound etc) then I went every two weeks. However, this new office I'm going to is telling me to come in every two weeks or so and I'm only five months along. It may have to do with ur insurance or the doc office. Either way, ur doc sounds like a quack and u need to find a new one quick. And NP's still have to answer to the doc they're under contract with. Find a new office. U'll feel better and less stressed if u know ur doc is actually there for u and not just looking at u like a number...especially considering ur a ftm.

I'm not sure if it's the way Kaiser works out here in California. Everyone else I've seen had been either a nurse practitioner,  ultrasound technician,  nurse,  or doctor. Not sure if any of you other. I've been having one a month visit but I'm confused. I'm a ftm.

I would definitely see another Dr. You should be seeing a Dr way more often than that too! Monthly until your last month or so and then at least every 2 weeks. Hope you are able to find a good doc, that would be confusing and frustrating!

I'd see a different doctor. You should be going once every 2-3 weeks at this point in your pregnancy
