Do you know if its possible to ask for a different mifwife? Mine wasn't helpful AT ALL at my last appointment. She pressed my belly really hard (no idea why) that I was actually crying and then listened to babys heartbeat for about 3 seconds only. She  didn't have time for my questions and just in general seemed uninterested.I'm 30 weeks and really want someone who can support me properly as I also have no friends and family nearby...

I didn't have a problem with on specific midwife, but I did have a problem with their team approach which meant I never saw the same person twice. I never got to know anyone and they didn't know me. I chose to register with a different GP where there was only one midwife, so now I see the same lady all the time.

Poor you! I can completely relate, in fact it sounds like we may have the same midwife! However,  don't know how to go about changing them. I've been seeing mine on a regular basis except for one time when she must of had a day off or another appointment and gor to see a really nice midwife who was so sensitive and took the trouble to actually make eye contact and talk to me. Keep hoping my midwife wouldn't be able to make it and I would get the nice one again,  but haven't.
It's sad.....she reads out like she's a robot doesn't take a breath in between and then she'll say "see you soon". Why choose such a sensitive profession if your going to treat people like that. ?

When you registered where you were registered with a team?  I'm registered with team blue midwives which means I see anyone from that team. If you are,  when making an appt you could ask who is taking it and ask to go to someone else? That's the bad thing about the NHS though, you tend to see whoever you get. Have you got that midwife regularly before?
