urine infection

I'm 19+4 weeks. I have never had urine infection in my previous pregnancies. I have had it for the past 2 months and now for the past couple of days I'm really itchy down there. Just wanted to know is it itchy due to the urine infection? I have been prescribed antibiotics by the midwife to clear it up. Need to start them today.

You definitely need to take the antibiotics, you will make things worse if you stop. You probably have a yeast infection, call the on call doctor and see what over the counter yeast infection creams they recommend.

Antibiotics can kill off good bacteria as well as bad which throws your whole system off. You could have a yeast infection as a result. Try yogurt it has healthy bacteria. I had a UTI in my first trimester also, Dr said it is very common in pregnant women

I had same thinking like you. Then i read in many Forums the women had misscarrigaes because they were afraid taking any medicine and the infection continued and got to the baby which caused the misscarriage. So i took now twice in 2 weeks antibiotics cause first time my urin/bledder infection wasnt treated well. I saw yesterday on ultrasound rhythm heartbeat and child movements i am in my 10. Pregnancy week with e child. So i trust the medicine will help us more then harm. :)

If you don't take the antibiotics there is a strong possibility that your UTI could become a kidney infection which would be a much greater risk to baby. Your midwife wouldn't give you something that would harm the baby, plus they should help. Though the itching might get worse because the pills will kill the good bacteria down there too. I would eat lots of yogurt in the next week or so :-)

The antibiotics r for the urine infection just started taking them today its a 5 day course 3 tablets a day. But I Dont know y I'm scared of taking them I know they would b safe if the midwife prescribed them. I feel insecure takin them as iv had a stillbirth last year at 38 weeks. Hope the baby would b safe.

Have you taken antibiotics for your urin infection as well? If so, it quiet often happen that after antibiotic treatment women start itching its some kind of reaction to the medicamentation. Because the whole flora household down there ist now little unbalanced.
