weight loss first trimester

Normally weight loss would be a bonus for me but in pregnancy its scary. Ive been suffering from hyperemesis 9wks now and ive lost 20lb since being pregnant! From being overweight Im now at the other end of the normal bmi range and worried about my baby. Seeing the midwife this morning and have a strong feeling im going to end up in hospital again as im struggling to keep anything down despite trying medication. Ive literally tried everything and feeling a little helpless and out of control in this as im desparate to eat and drink but I cant xx Any shared experiences would be helpful please xx

My SIL's friend ended up losing 19lbs even at the end of her pregnancy, she had to get a feeding tube...but it turned out okay, she recovered and the baby is healthy

Ask doctor to put you on something called Zofran it's an anti nausea medication. Safe ti take when pregnant. It is used a lot for chemotherapy patients. I had the same problem. I have 11 weeks left and I have lost 9 lbs. Not as bad as you but trust me that medication is a lifesaver.

I'm having same prob. Lost so much weight. Only vomiting about 4 times a day but I'm also having diarrhoea about 4 times a  day too. Also been in and out of hospital. Everyone around me is losing patience with my sickness - like I have any control. I feel so miserable and weepy :(

My sister had the same thing through two of her pregnancies. The main concern was dehydration so she was constantly in and out of hospital with both. Although I don't know your particular circumstances, she had two beautiful, healthy baby girls. Wishing you the best, I know it isn't easy!!

I was the same. I wouldnt be able to keep nothing down was vomiting an average of 12 times a day to the point id vomit blood. I lost a lot of weight to. Mine lasted till around 24 weeks. The only thing I found I could keep some down of was roast patatoes or mash patatoes. It was tough, I would litrally be crying when I would eat because I knew it would all be out within 10 mins. I couldnt bare eating at one point but my mum made sure I did and dr told me even if u vomit try and eat something.
