I didn't eat breakfast had early morning appt and was an hour away got there got checked and then sent straight to l&d they starved me over 36 hours. I was in so much pain when they induced me but was still begging them for something to eat and they told me no eating during labor can cause vomiting. With my 1st I had no appetite before I went into labor but I do know that hospital allows nothing but ice chips because food and drink can cause vomiting. The 2nd didn't even allow ice chips. I'm waiting to see what this hospital allows. Found out Friday triage will let you have anything you want to drink even soda but no food.

With my first they allowed me to eat whatever I wanted during labor.. but I did puke it up :/. With my second (different hospital different state) they starved me, finally took me off pitocin and let me eat dinner and then I finally had my baby. Third (another state and hospital) starved me all dang day and then said I couldn't get food because the cafeteria had closed for the night 30 minutes before I delivered. I was pissed.. but my hubby picked me up a burger lol.

I got induced and ate McDonald's right before it then I didnt progress any and I was told id be taken off of pitocin at midnight so I could go ahead and eat at about 9 so I had 2 greasy pieces of pizza and a salad then my water broke at 11. Honestly as soon as it broke I ran to the bathroom because I didnt want to be sitting in that and my contractions actually made me have to poop so I did and when I had my son I didnt on him so it all worked out for me lol :)

I agree with rasharasha even though I've never been in labor, I keep hearing from family and friends not to get stuffed before delivering.

I plan on eating before I go to the hospital! They starved me with my first daughter and still poop came out!  Not to mention I was in labor for 24hrs so you can only imagine the level of hungry I was feeling. Not sure what I'll be eating but I just know I am.

With my daughter I woke up out my sleep into labor, so they starved me as well. My adrenaline was so high & things went pretty quickly so I didn't notice how hungry I was til after I delivered. My hospital food was actually really good. They had just opened the pregnancy wing and were trying a healthy gourmet approach to food.

I ate 2 hor dogs and drank a slurpee on my way to the hospital with my first. Once labor got really intense I vomitted the slurpee up along with some of the hot dog. And as Danielle615 said when I started pushing more than just baby came out. It was pretty embarrassing :/

My hospital gave me a wonderful lobster dinner before they started my induction... but no shell cracker -_- I ended up begging my husband to drive to McDonald's to get me a cheese burger & fries and I gave him the lobster. Lol

Eat whatever you want whilr in labor but BEFORE you go to the hospital. .. they starve you until you give birth and then feed you bad food... I was really, really shaky in labor because I was soo hungry and they wouldn't feed me... this time around before I go to the hospital im getting food even if I am in labor

I think its different for everyone.  I have diabetes and my doctor told me very strictly no food. Ive had 3 babies now.

With my first dispite my saying my doctor said no food, my mother had other opinion on the matter. I had pancakes and 20 hrs later had my first baby. Both my and my babies blood sugars were so high they kept us at the hospital for a week.

I sugest asking your doctor about it.

I was told no food before delivery.  Tell ya its not easy. Though they dont want your blood sugars to high. So if you do eat something eat something salty or a green vegtable as they are sugar free bee's

You will want to eat something that will keep your energy up but nothing greasy or heavy that will cause stomach issues. Smoothies are great while you are in labor.
