Inconsistancies.....

I found out that I was pregnant on 8/8/2009. I had blood tests done on the 11th and 13th. On the 13th my HGC levels were 1100.  I went to my first Doctor's appointment on 8/24/09 and had a sonogram. The doctor said that the bloodwork levels went up great and the sonogram looked good. But the bloodwork showed I should have been further along than the sonogram showed. The sonogram showed 5 weeks and 6 days and the heartrate was only 102. He ordered another sonogram next week and said that he wants the heartrate to be a little higher and the sonogram to show a weeks worth of development. He said that this can happen and everything be fine or it can be an early sign of miscarriage. Has this happened to any of you guys? Any advice?

O yeah lmp was 7/2/2009 which i guess that still makes the sonogram about a week off. But I heard a heartbeat so I am going to try and relax like you suggested.

Thank you! I do not think that he did beta HCG on the 24th. He just said that thongs looked to be a about a week off but that everything could be fine. I will keep you posted.

13 - 16 weeks LMP: 13,300 - 254,000 mIU/ml
17 - 24 weeks LMP: 4,060 - 165,400 mIU/ml
25 - 40 weeks LMP: 3,640 - 117,000 mIU/ml
Non-pregnant females: <5.0 mIU/ml
Postmenopausal females: <9.5 mIU/ml

Well, is the sonogram date accurate with the date that you have (according to your LMP?) What was the beta hcg on the 24th? It looks normal to me. And I think it's really early... the heart just just just started beating so give it time, it'll pick up.
I've never been through this personally but I don't really believe docs should be giving all these test and U/S before at least 7 weeks(I dont agree with waiting til 12 either =) lol)
I think it just stresses women out over nothing. The baby needs time and although I would wanna know if something wasn't right as soon as possible, I'd rather not stress over an U/S that was given at 5 or 6 weeks. Try to relax and have your U/S next week, it should be a little more accurate then*** Let me know what happens
