Just an update.
I went back to my old shampoo and conditioner and my hair stopped falling out. Maybe my hormone levels evened out or maybe it was the shampoo I was using. It's such a relief not to have gobs of hair coming out anymore!
Thank you bluegenie for the article. I saw the shampoo advice and that's what made me go back to my old shampoo and conditioner.
Thank you for the article it was very informative and good. I deeply appreciate it.

Saw the midwife and she said hair loss is not common at 7 weeks pregnant usually it occurs at the end of pregnancy or afterwards. She said my thyroid levels were normal.
I'll be calling my regular doctor about it and let you all know what she says.
I'm losing alot of hair still, I went back to my old shampoo and it seems like less is falling out. I'm bummed, worried, and convinced that all the dark hair I lost willl grow back gray. Since I'm finding gray hairs every now and then.
I'm also hypothyroid and my hair falls out so much now!!! I've always heard of lustrious hair and i'm worried about my once lustrious hair thinning out into baldness! eek!
Did you doctor check your thyroid? It can change with the pregnancy. Mine has. My doctor had to just up my dosage
I haven't had any hair loss, but I have heard that it can be a symptom of pregnancy, but that thicker, fuller hair can be also! Do you keep your hair tied back during the day? If you do, its likely that you're not losing quite as much as you think, its just that all of the hair that you would normally lose bit by bit over the day is coming out all at once since it was tied back. Here's an article I found with some tips:
Recommendations for Your Hair During Pregnancy and After Delivery:
There are a number of things that you might do to have healthier hair and/or reduce hair loss during pregnancy and after delivery:
1. Consult with your health care provider to ensure a proper balance of hormones
2. Avoid pigtails, cornrows, hair weaves, braids and tight hair rollers which can pull and stress your hair
3. Eat a diet high in fruits and vegetables, which contain flavonoids and antioxidants that may provide protection for the hair follicles and encourage hair growth
4. Use shampoos and conditioners that contain biotin and silica
5. Hair is fragile when it is wet, so be gentle; avoid fine tooth combs
6. If you need to use blow dryers and other heated hair instruments, try to use the cool setting
7. Supplement your diet with the following nutrients:
Vitamin B complex (Catergory A)
Biotin (Possibly safe; orally and appropriately)
Vitamin C (Catergory A)
Vitamin E ( Likely safe if amount does not exceed the RDA; possibly safe if it does)
Zinc (Likely safe when used orally and appropriately; likely unsafe when used orally in high doses)
