On bed rest and worried

I'm on bed rest.  My baby is due April 12th.  I had to go to the hospital 3 times last month for having lots of contractions.  I am not dilated yet, so they sent me home with contraction medicine.

Most of the time when I get up to go to the bathroom I have a contraction.  The other day I had 6 painful ones in half an hour.  I called Labor and Delivery and they said to call back if I have more in the next half hour luckily they went away.

I have to stay on bed rest until I am 35 weeks which will be in about 8 more days.  By then the baby's lungs will be developed enough for her to breathe on her own.  I see my doctor this Thursday, I hope she doesn't say to stay in bed longer.  It's hard being stuck in my room.  Luckily I have this lap top.

I get so worried wondering if this baby will make it.

Thank you for your words of comfort.

Last night I had to go to the hospital again for having very painful contractions.  I thought the baby was coming 6 weeks early. I wasn't dialated enough so she's not ready to come into the world yet.  Interestingly though the contractions stopped when I got there.

The doctor was very concerned though about the baby.  She wasn't moving much.  They had to do a little zap on my belly to wake her up and I had to drink orange juice and cold water to wake her up.

The doctor did an indepth ultrasound. She said her lungs look good and she is practicing how to breathe.  She did measurements and said the baby weighs 5 pounds 9 ounces.  She said on a score of  1 to 10 the health of the baby is a 10.  I felt relieved.  I'm 34 weeks now.

I'm still on bed rest.

Athena, don't worry.  Like Boots I was told the same thing.  If you have to deliver a baby now it's safe.  My friend delivered her son @ 33 weeks and he is safe.  My other friend delivered her twin girls @ 32 weeks last Sep, while one had to be in NICU for a month, the baby is fine. I hear ya!  A part of me (the selfish part) would so like to deliver at 37 weeks but the rational part is telling me that the baby will decide and hopefully it will be at 40 weeks
