There is an article in our paper today about norovirus doing the rounds at several medical institutions and hospitals here at the moment. Luckily no cases at the hospital I will deliver at, hope it stays that way.

Good to hear you're feeling better.

I had the norovirus stomach bug back in January -- caught it from my 2 year old.  It spread like wildfire -- my husband got it, then me, then my niece, then my dad, then my mom and then my nephew.  It was crazy.  I was sooooo sick.  When I called Telehealth they told me that the vomiting and diarrhea wasn't the big problem while pregnant, but dehydration was (no fever; fevers can be dangerous).  I couldn't keep anything down, including water.  I was instructed to drink diluted juice/ginger ale/gator aid/pedialyte every 5 minutes until I could keep it down for 4 hours and then I was to start on bland foods.  It was very good advice.  I lost 4 pounds in a week.  I was just so sick.  The only bright side was that we were at my 96 year old grandmother's house when my son started vomiting and fortunately, she did not get it.  Being sick while pregnant is really no fun.

Glad you're feeling better. There's been some nasty crud going around work and luckily it hasn't reached me yet! Hope you have a continued recovery.

I have not heard of this or been tested for this. I did let my Dr. know but he told me there were no strands of the flu going around right now that he was concerned about. Just if I started to feel really bad to call him and see if he could find medication for me.

Tis the season for getting sick, I guess. You sound miserable Mom2b...I'm sorry.
I am not usually an alarmist, but all I can think of is what if it is not the flu, but something like lysteriosis? I know it is not common, and common sense tells me it is just a flu bug, but what if, you know? Have any of you heard of other pregnant women who have come down with something and gone in to have a blood test to rule out lysteria? From what I googled today, that seems to be the recommendation. But I have not known anyone who has done this? On the other hand, I guess I never knew any pregnant ladies with the flu either. I will probably call the doc tomorrow to ask, but anyone have any insight?

I had this on Tuesday, luckily the throwing up was only 1 day. Other then that I was just super tired and weak. I didnt eat much of anything that day but kept drinking water even through I didnt keep it all down. I took a nap that was probably 4-5 hours and felt much better after this. If you do eat go for the bland stuff, like bananas-chiken-rice. Good luck and hope you get better soon!!
It is cruel to have women as pregnant as us getting sick! not fair!
