Baby weights too much??

so I'm a ftm and I'm 33 weeks exactly. I had my 3rd ultrasound today (in ky you usually get 3) and they said my baby boy weighs 5lbs 1oz already. They seemed really concerned but said everything with him looks perfect, as in the cord/sac/fluid etc. My doctor even went as far as to say the world doesn't need anymore obese babies. :( I'm afraid to eat now, and I'm constantly hungry. I don't want to cause my baby problems from eating so much and him gaining a lot of weight. I started weighing 116 and I now weigh 170. What should I do? I'm worried. I'm due April 16th, so he's got 7 weeks left to grow. Should I eat less? Or stay eating how I am?

Rude doctor!! I bet she also forgot to tell you that sonograms can be off by up to 2 pounds. I would not worry about it. My baby at 32 weeks weighed over 5 pounds estimated by a sonogram. I don't think she will be that big. I am tall so I am thinking that she may just be a tall baby. Just relax and enjoy your pregnancy. Unless there is something actually wrong with you or your baby just relax

No worries hun! At My 30 week 4 day apt I had an ultra sound and they told me my baby girl weighed 5 lbs. I'm not too worried because both I and daddy are tall and he's very big framed. If there were really cause for concern your ob would have told you that you would prob need a c-section. Your ob just doesn't want you to have complications due to excessive weight gain. Trust me I felt bad too because at my 30 week apt I had gained 16 lbs total and my ob scolded me. But it's like my mom told me "just enjoy your pregnancy and in Jesus name everything will turn out just fine" =) best of luck!

Muscle weighs more than fat, that doctor can go suck a d.i.c.k! Excuse my bluntness, but that is flat out rude, demeaning, harsh and uncalled for! Your starting weight was 116. You obviously know how to take care of yourself and your own weight... Your baby isn't even born yet, he or she will be fine. Babies only take what they need from mom while inside, obviously your baby needs that weight for one thing or another. Who knows, your baby may end up being the next football all star! You keep eating just the way you have been, keep yourself healthy and find yourself a new doctor. Worry about your child's weight when he or she starts walking and being active, they will wear off all that baby fat so fast! Stay healthy and eat until your heart's content!

It doesn't even matter how much u eat honestly. My last baby was on the bigger side thru my whole pregnancy and I mentioned something to the sonographer about maybe eating too much and she said the baby will grow regardless of how much you are eating so there is No need to change your eating habits. He was 8lb 15oz born 4days early

Thank you ladies. Your comments make me feel a lot better. I have since demanded a new doctor and I'm not changing my eating plans because my baby may be big.

Those ultrasounds can be off by up to two pounds they say.  I've got supposedly a big baby girl...last ultrasound they said she's nearly a pound heavier than average... I'm 34 weeks and have another ultrasound on March 11th.  If my doctor said anything like what yours said to you I would find another doctor.  That says to me that he can't handle his job like a professional and I wouldn't want anything to do with that.  What a jerk.

Personally I love chubby babies lol they are the cutest it's very mean for Ur doctor to say that my niece weighed 9 lbs when she was born she didn't look like a new born she's five now and is the skinniest little thing even tights fit her lose and she eats alot but she's very active. My sister is the type of person that didn't care how much she gained she ate everything she wanted and she's not big and neither are her babies u eat all u just because a baby is born big doesn't mean they will be big forever

Rude! I wouldn't eat less because you will make yourself miserable.  Just drink plenty of fluids and eat as healthy as you can. My friend gained 70lbs and her baby was only 6 lbs. Your doing just fine

With my first pregnancy I started off at 120 and gained about 50 lbs and my baby came out 6.5 so I don't think u eating less is going to make a difference he's growing at his own rate some babies r just bigger no matter how u eat

I agree with what marpn12. Rude doctor. But every woman is different & baby's genes are a combo of mommy & daddy's. I'm Asian and have been told that I'm underweight for my pregnancy. But hello, I'm tiny, what do you expect? The standard weight gain doesn't even apply to me since I'm not even "average" to begin with -_- Don't worry so much! Have a speedy & safe delivery.

Honestly that doesn't sound like good bedside manner. Even for a doctor that's kinda rude. As it is your a first timer  and 33 weeks 5 lbs is pretty average. Boys tend to weigh a bit more then girls. My son was born at 37 weeks weighing 8lbs. All my sisters kids were all between 7.5-10 and her babies were never those chubby  babies they just are tall and heavy boned. My son weighs 27 lbs and is a fit build and kinda stocky he's 2. For my 1st  I gained with her 50lbs and she weighted 7lbs. Don't worry too  much babies supposed  to gain about 1 lb a week. Just eat healthy after delivery  then you can loose the weight when you feel ready  but right now just keep yourself and baby healthy and ugh..
Doctor rude.
