Gestational diabetes

I'm 32 weeks and was just diagnosed with gestational diabetes.
I've tried so hard todo everything right with this pregnancy. I'm scared it will affect my little girl. I've been really upset since learning about it yesterday afternoon.  Is anyone else dealing with this?

I have it to and it's not that bad. Just remember it's only temporary. I met with a dietician and she helped me with a meal plan that so far has worked great for me!! She told me to look at the total carbohydrates when I am prepping for a meal. I am allowed three meals a day along with three snacks. For breakfast I am allowed 25 total carbs, for lunch 45, for dinner 45 and for snacks 30. This meal plan keeps me full and energized and I also walk on my treadmill. Exercise helps a lot! Good luck momma!

Thanks everyone. I'm feeling a bit better a week into it. Learning what to eat and when. The cravings are hard. I don't normally have fast food or sugar cravings but when someone says don't...  I feel like I need it haha.
I had my first appointment on Tuesday and learned more about GD. How it shouldn't affect my little girl as long as I keep things under control. I guess that has been my biggest fear.  It's been so cold here but now that the nice weather has started I am able to walk around a bit more. Good practice for when she arrives. :)

Also, it doesn't mean you can't eat carbs and you can't eat sugar... Just don't binge.  But honestly, if I want something I do not restrict myself, I just try not to eat a ton if it.  Snacking is very important, it helps you not to make bad decisions when it's meal time.

I've got it, I'm 35 +3 pregnant and have had it since 28 weeks.  You get used to it. It's actually not bad. My sugars have been real good for the most part.  Ever since I started taking my doctors advice and walking even just pacing around my house for ten minutes it really helps.   You'll do fine :)

I've got it too. Found out at 32 weeks, after they over looked it at 28 weeks. It really upset me. I'm kinda controlling my sugar levels as much as I can with diet. I'm hoping I can make it so I don't need meds. You will get use to having it. Just gotta watch what you eat, which can be hard with pregnancy cravings.

This is the second time I have been diagnosed with it. I was really scared at first, but if you follow the diet plan and you control your sugars you will be fine. My daughter is now 6 yo and was born weighing only 7lbs and didnt have sugar problems. With this pregnancy I have maintained my sugars since January and havent needed any meds just diet control. Goodluck :)
