Just remember some things cannot be used, like car seats which do have expiration dates (never trust a used car seat with the safety of your child) and breast pumps- there are some things you need to get NEW. But you can get a lot of things used in good condition. The virtual baby shower is free if you do that, you don't have to buy anything, and if you want to do a small gathering you can make invitations online for free or send emails, etc BBQs are also fun and you can always do a potluck. You don't have to spend a fortune on a baby shower!

First baby and I'm having one.  It's coming up this Saturday!   My parents and in laws insisted on paying for it but I've helped buy decorations and prizes for games and those sort of things

I did with my first two. Spent so much money and barely had anything to show for it. Last baby got everything she needed without a baby shower. With this baby, I already started with the pamper, wipes, lotion, baby wash, clothes (onesies & sleepers), receiving blankets, socks, hats. I got a bassinet/playpen, car seat w/ base. Just start preparing. Get to a church for things you absolutely can't afford. Some strollers come w/ car seat and base.

Maybe get creative if you want to have one. Even if it's small that's okay- try a BBQ for example- with both men and women can go, like you would normally do with just a couple friends but this time it's for the baby! You could also try an "virtual" baby shower...there are lots of ideas if you just Google Virtual Baby Shower, and fun ideas on Pinterest too. You can still do virtual games, etc- like guessing the baby's sex and people can still send gift cards , or buy online with free shipping, or do crowd funding for bigger items. If you Google it there are lots of good ideas.

I'm not having one either. We moved really really far away from everyone we know, so we wouldn't have anyone to invite anyway. I haven't bought a single thing for our kid yet, either. I got some clothes and swaddling blankets from family for Christmas, but we don't have a crib or a car seat or anything big.  I also don't have a single diaper yet. Not sure what we're doing about that. So, you could be less prepared, right? :)

This is my fourth and I only had one baby shower and it was with my second child. I don't really have many people to invite and I moved out of my home state so my family and the few friends I have will not come. It's not like I need anything from anybody anyway but it is still nice to have one.

I didn't with my first and with my 2nd being 5 years apart and a boy we had a welcome home baby and I thru it myself. Family mostly came and some friends. Now with 3rd were not having one because we'll these kids are 2 yrs apart and 3rd ones a boy. You can always have always a small get to get her after baby. Anyhoo I didn't get any big major stuff. I got tons of blankets and baby clothes and diapers and  wipes. So if you have one unless you have people willing to spend $$ on big stuff don't expect people to buy a stroller or highchair or carseats.I had the welcome baby because we'll at 5 yrs apart we didn't really keep anything and I knew having the clothes would be a big help and wanted to experience that type  of party once.

I wasn't going to at first. It was too stressful to plan and I felt the money could go else where but when I made it publicly known I wasn't that's when family stepped in. They felt since this will be my last I should. This is number two fyi

This will be my 5 th and i have never had a shower.  Dh work at the time we had our first took us out for lunch and gave us a card with a little cash.  We live to far from family and friends that we grew up with.  Some ppl sent stuff in the mail. With #2 I had two friends take me out for lunch. And the same two friends have taken me out before the other kids arrived. But that is it.

I'm not having one either. I would only have a few ppl to invite so I think it's pointless to even have one. I wish I had more supporters because my husband and I are really struggling financially and could really use the help.
