How long?

So I just got back from the doctor ad didn't get the sweep I thought I was getting but found out that I am 3cm dilated. This is my second pregnancy and I'm 37+6. With my first I didn't have braxton hicks or cramps or anything like that but my water broke on 37+6 and she was born at exactly 38 weeks. This time I've been having cramps/braxton hicks for a few months now(usually twice a day but no more than 4 times), but yesterday was the worst so far as I had cramps/braxton hicks/contractions 8 times throughout the day and 2 times throughout the night. This morning I noticed that I was starting to lose mucus plug a lot more than usual (still without blood though) and then went to the doctor and found out I was 3cm.
So since my water broke last time with no signs of early labour first, this is all new to me..... Does this mean that he will be here soon? I'm really hoping to have him this weekend.....

Well hopefully he comes this weekend lol. I'd get up and go for a walk or something but I can barely get out of bed/off the couch to do house work.... I live in the wood and my neighbours pretty far away solid hate to go for a walk and not be able to make it back home lol.
Not that I really believe in superstition but maybe the full moon tomorrow will help things along :-)

I walked around 2 1/2 wks at 3 cm with my first and water breaking was the first sign of Labour. But with my others I started contracting before water broke.  It can go either way. No one can tell you for sure. You could go into Labour tomorrow or in a few weeks. Good luck.

See that's what has me wondering because I know you can be dilated for weeks without going into labor but the way the doctor was talking it seemed as though he didn't think I'd make it to my next appointment..... Actually he said he is the doctor on call this weekend until Sunday so I might be seeing him again (he's not my usual doctor but just filling in while mine is on vacation).

Unfortunately it's all just a guessing game. With my son (my first) I showed all kinds of labor signs from 37 weeks on and he didn't come until 2 days before my due date. With my daughter  (my second) I had signs of labor from 36 weeks on and had her at exactly 39 weeks. With my daughter I was 4cm dilated for 2 weeks before she came and my Dr swore she was going to come in a few days until she didn't. Lol

I am in the same situation. My water broke and I was induced the first time at 36 weeks. Now that I'm 38 weeks and 2 days I feel like I don't know how to handle things. I'm not having noticeable contractions and I just lost my mucus plug yesterday. But what now? Lol
