Kids in the delivery room?

So I have a dilemma. My husband and I have a 13 month old son and  we don't have any close by family or friends that can stay with him during delivery....anyone know hospital policy on young children in the delivery room? I can call my parents once I know I'm for sure in labor but they live 5-6 hours away and I truly don't want to have to labor/deliver alone while my husband stays with our son. Any advice??

I'm sure if you discussed this with the hospital when you register or perhaps even your doctor they would understand. I'm sure your not the first one who has ever had this issue. I'm a FTM so I can't speak from personal experience but I do know all hospitals are different & some do allow children. Good luck, that's a sticky one!!

Our hospital says no one under 18 can be in the delivery room. I would definitely talk with the doctor or nurse prior to labor. You don't have anyone like daycare or a sitter you could ask to help out till your parents get there.

No. We really don't have anyone he can stay with. My husband watches him during the day while I work and I'm with him at night while my husband is at work. My MIL had stayed with us for a time but she lives in Jamaica so she has since traveled back home.....

I feel your pain, I don't know hospital policy. My mother drove up from Florida to stay with my 3 kids while I go have my 4th. If it wasn't for her I would be in the same boat. Maybe you can ask your doctor to induce you so that you can tell your mother who. Exactly to come

With us were with kaiser and siblings a are allowed just as long as there's an adult to watch them. I wanted my daughter in there for my 2nd but It wasn't a nice quiet  birth since my epidurals didn't work so she went to grandmas. This time around I have a u yr old and a 2 yr old and to be honest I want them at grandmas just because my husband isn't the best at watching the kids he kinda them do what they want and when he needs them to settle down he thinks he can control  them in a snap but it doesn't work that way. I'm a stay at home mom so I know how to get these kids to sit and stop and to be in labor while I get these kids to settle down is just something  I don't wanna do. So to avoid stress on myself they're going to grandmas. But if you only have 1 child and under 2 it should be easier cause then maybe he could nap thru it. But definitely  check with hospital.

Thanks everyone. Found out today that although they discourage having children that young in the delivery room it is allowed. So if we have to bring him we can....I feel much better after confirming this....Thabks again all! :)

Because RSV is such a big deal right now no one under 14 years old is allowed on the maternity floor at my hospital. I'm due the 22nd and they told me by then the rule may be lifted since flu season is usually over but we'll have to see. I hope it is lifted because I would really like my 22 month old son to meet his brother in the hospital.
