Still haven't met my doctor!

OK this isn't really a question, I just need to vent because I'm starting to get fed up. I found out I was pregnant at 4 weeks and made an appointment with my family doctor who referred me to a baby doctor. I waited over two months for someone to call me with my first appointment before I decided to call myself and figure out what was going on. They told me that apparently they never got my referral and that I was now too far along and they didn't have room for me. So, I called my family doctor back who then referred me to a second doctor. When I went to my first appointment I was met by a doctor who told me that my actual doctor was out sick and that she was covering for her but by my next appointment (in 4 weeks) she would be back. The day before that next appointment I was called by the original doctor who "didn't have room for me" and was told my doctor was STILL out sick and could income in that day for my appointment with her. I went to that appointment that day and after my checkup I was told again that she had no room for me and since my doctor was still out sick that I should make an appointment with yet another doctor, which I did. The day before THAT appointment I got yet another phone call saying that my doctor now had someone filling in for her at her office and that they would have to cancel my appointment but that had another appointment for me with this new fill in doctor.
I am now 28w5d and have an appointment tomorrow and have no idea who this doctor is going to be and am starting to get really fed up. I still haven't seen the same doctor twice! I've tried calling my family doctor and asking if he would follow me through my pregnancy but I was told that he doesn't do that and I'm basically SOL!  All of my appointments have lasted less than 5 minutes (actual time spent with a doctor), all these done is listen to the heart beat, check my blood pressure and measure my belly and sent me on my way. I really just want to stop going all together as all these appointments with different doctors just seem pointless to me, but my husband would never allow it even though everything is going fine. I'm just really starting to get fed up with being passed around and it would be nice to at least be able to see someone more than once. Oh and to top it all off the last doctor I saw (who will my luck will be the permanent fill in) was male (I specified from day one I wanted a female doctor) and had such a strong foreign accent that I couldn't understand him and I don't think he could really understand me!

Visits with the OB  are short I spend more time with nurse and that's with kaiser. I won't be able to meet my delivery  doctor  till the time comes. That how  it works with kaiser. You meet and see  your OB  but you don't get a visit with your delivery  doctor till the day of because you have many delivery doctors that either are available  or that are on call. I'm hoping I get the same one I got with my second  she had very good bedside service. I'd say find a midwife or look for a birthing center. To me delivery doctor is only their for the main active delivery  when you have to push besides that your still gonna spend more time with nurses anyhow.

I agree, unfortunately all appts are short and sweet but like AK said they check for so many things thst you might not know are wrong. It's always better to be safe than sorry.
It s*cks that you live so far away and there aren't any other Dr's around. It's hard to not be comfortable with who you are seeing especially when it is such an important dr for you to have and want to be comfortable with. I would try to talk to an office manager maybe and tell them that you feel like you've been pushed around since they keep Changing your apts and diff drs. Ask if they can plz work better to keep you with the same one and make it a better experience

Although my appointments are always short, I'm always looking forward to them. I get to ask any questions I have in mind and get peace of mind especially since I'm high risk. I would keep going simply because while things are going good now nothing guarantees that it'll stay that way. With my first I was having a normal pregnancy until I was 30 weeks. And now this pregnancy they found out I have a shortened cervix and have been on bedrest for the past 4 weeks. Plus they check for diabetes, high blood pressure etc. It might be a hassle but just keep in mind it's temporary

There is no one else in my area unfortunately. I live in a very small town and am already almost an hour out of the city (where my appointments are) and was given a choice of 4 possible doctors. The first was who I had when I had my daughter 4 years ago and I didn't like her, the second was a male who was my friends doctor who I didn't want for for certain reasons other than him being a male, the third is the doctor I originally picked that lost my referral and the fourth is the one I have now. So far as midwives and birthing centers, as far so know there are none available anywhere near me, so I'm stuck with what I got unfortunately.

It's just really frustrating and really seems like a waste of my time.... Especially when I love so far away, these 5 minute appointments take almost a full day or if my time, or at least they seem to. I'm not really a fan of doctors/hospitals to begin with and this just makes it worse....

I would do some research and find another dr or midwife in the area, explain your situation and see if they can start following you instead. As far as your apts go, mine are also very short, they do a urine sample, blood pressure, heartbeat and belly measurement,  ask if I have any questions and send me on my way

So sorry they are putting you through all of that! Have you considered finding a birthing center and midwife?
