breastfeeding is rough!

I has my precious  baby girl on April 4th. Breastfeeding came easy to us, she latched on well. But man oh man, I mean it has been non stop. Like I knew babies need to feed all the time but since I'm not using formula, it's extremely hard to get in an hour of sleep! Definitely have cried a lot. Looking for some encouraging stories.

I can't seem to get passed the pain. She seems to have a good latch, ever the lactation consultant said she looks to be grabbing on correctly, but it feels like intense pinching that has lead to cracked nipples, a tiny trace of bleeding and one nipple has a tiny blister on the tip. To make it even greater, she's going through cluster feedings where she wants to feed every 40 mins or so. Sigh

Just hang in there. It can be really hard at times but it is worth it. She will start nursing longer and sleeping better with time. Like someone else said every baby is different. Mine sure where but the two of you together will figure it all out.

I keep her to one side per hour about. Sometimes she will nurse for 15 to 20 mins and sometimes only 5 to 10 mins. I don't know how long it takes to get the hind milk. Then i put her down and she will stay asleep anywhere from a half hour to 2 hrs. But the 2 hours has only been like twice a day. Granted this is way better than when she was one day old. She literally nursed every 10 mins about. The nurses and lactation consultant said it was just cluster feeding. They also checked my latch and said it was wonderful and said she's definitely getting milk! So it seems to be improving by the day. Trying to stay positive and hang in longer. Thanks for the feedback

My daughter nursed every 45min to 1 hour for about 8 weeks! It was EXHAUSTING, but she eventually started sleeping a teeny bit longer each week. By 3 months, she could go 2-3 hours. I never gave up! We nursed successfully for 12 months. My son was the opposite. Perfect nurser. Great sleeper. Nursed for 18 months. Every baby is so different. Keep up the good work, you can rest in a few weeks!

Are you sure she's draining one side before switching? Need to make sure she gets the fatty hind milk. It will help her sleep a little longer. You should be getting at least 2 hours at a time
