My son was born on the 14th. He ate well for the first 36 hours. Then he slept for about 15 hours. I could not wake him to breastfeed. We had to give him some formula to try to force him to eat. The Dr and nurses said it is normal.  Now at times he wants to eat non-stop.

My daughter was born on the 13th and spent 2 days in the nicu. It started off because of an irregular heartbeat that corrected itself. However while she was in there she didn't eat much. It got to the point that they were going to put a tube in her nose to force her to eat. However she ended up throwing up a lot of mucous she had swallowed. After that she slowly started eating more. Possibly your son just needs to throw up extra fluid as well?
