membrane sweeping/stripping

I'm scheduled for induction in 2 days and my Dr just stripped my membranes this morning. My mom went with me and when we were discussing going for a walk he told us not to. I'm confused I thought walking was a good thing and helped with labor. Why would he tell me not to, especially with my induction date just 2 days away?

not sure why the doctor would say no walking! I had my membranes swept today as well and have gone for two walks which have made my contractions stronger.  Walking is encouraged after a sweep because the baby's head will put pressure on the cervix and thin it out in conjunction with the prostaglandins that were released from the sweep. This will help with dilation, ultimately progressing your labor. I would walk if I were you!

First congratulations!!! Hopefully your little one will be here soon too. =) And that's exactly what I was thinking.  He just wants me to rest tho. I still went for my usual hour walk and have been having contractions since before the sweep.  I'm due to be induced on Wed anyways so what harm could it possibly cause
