weight

Soo... I don't post that often, but I am freaking out. I will be 23 weeks this Saturday with 1 baby (boy), and just had a doctors visit. Everything was normal except my weight. I gained 14 pounds in 1 month. My starting weight was 176 and I now weigh 201, that's 25 pounds already and I am only half way through my pregnancy. My doctor said he wasn't concerned, but would be if it happens again. I am supposed to take my Glucose screening test in 4 weeks, and was curious if I could have gestational diabetes??? Does that affect your weight gain??? I haven't changed my eating habits, and thought I was doing really good with what I chose to eat.... I didn't have this problem with my first pregnancy, I only gained 25-27 pounds. Any thoughts???

I am 24 weeks and I have gained a total of 15 pounds, but 8 pounds gained in the 16-20 week range. Last month I only gained 2. I too was worried because 8 sounded like so much at one time when it was like 1-3 pounds before that. I didn't change anything from weeks 16-20 and weeks 21-24 I just didn't have the gain. I thought for sure it was going to be worse. My appetite has grown and my cravings are for Nestle Toll House cookies and Coke...not the healthiest cravings I've had!  I'm limiting my coke, but I can bake and eat those break apart cookie dough cookies by the dozen!. I'm only having one girl. I gained 45 pounds with my son and I'm trying to not go so overboard this time because I had a hard time getting it back off. I'm hoping the cookie phase is short lived!
Are they testing your urine each month for sugar? I'm pretty sure my doctor checks for sugar, protein and iron on a regular basis. In fact, on my third month visit they told me my sugar was high, but I had just eaten a cinnamon roll just prior to the visit.  Maybe ask next time what they routinely check for. This may put your mind at rest. As long as you're healthy and baby is healthy...enjoy it! This is the one time for many of us that we can eat what we want without worrying about sucking in our stomaches to look "skinny". He!He!

I'm at 21 weeks today and still have not officially gained a pound (I have gained back most of the 9 pounds I lost).  They initially hoped for me to gain 30 pounds and now they are hoping I can make it up and gain 20-25 pounds.  With my son I lost 11 pounds, and then then gained all that back PLUS 29 pounds.  I gained 17 pounds in one month with him so I know the time is coming and the next few months are huge growth months for our little ones so I'm sure we all have higher numbers coming in soon.

My doctor told me when I first became pregnant that he wanted me to gain no more than 30 pounds because my starting weight was heavier.
