Since I had my daughter (8-8-09) I have been losing hair. I know thats normal, at least for me. After every baby I have I shed hair that has grown extra extra thick during pregnancy. Im not going bald or anything, lol, just sheding. My hair is super thick so there isnt even a diffrence to me in the feel of it, I just am constantly pulling out stands and finding them everywhere!!! Anyone eles??? I dont remember it lasting this long before, UGH! Just getting frustrated, lol:~)

Me too it's so bad I had to go buy a new dyson because of all the hair on the floor. It's all over the place and driving me crazy!

ditto. both pregnancies from about 3 months pp to about 8 months. clumps of hair. daily. It's normal, both according to my dr and hairstylist.
during pregnancy you don't shed hair. so after baby comes, you lose the hair you would've lost in those 9 months, plus the hair you would normally shed during these months.

I'm glad I could maybe help. Sorry to make any one worry. Thyroid issues are easy to diagnose and usually easy to treat but too often doctors and patients miss the symptoms because "I'm just getting old", or "its just part of being pregnant/a new mom". Its easy to not put it all together. When I was diagnosed I just felt "off". I couldn't even identify what was wrong, I just knew something was not right. I feel that all women should be tested around 6 months postpartum. Some hair loss postpartum is normal, like kaprovea said, it is caused by a hormone change. Prolonged, excessive hair loss is less normal and might need to be shared with your doctor.
blueeyedtabbycat I hope you don't have a thyroid issue. Good luck. And I second the darned hormones comment!  :o)

same here...however I have hypothyroidism and thyroid problems cause hair loss too....just to throw it out there. if you're feeling more tired, have extra dry skin, graining/not able to lose weight, general concentration issues, or a family history of thyroid problems, you shoul mention it to your doc.

The same thing is happening to me.  I have read that it is normal bc of your hormones that you loose a lot of extra hair after the baby.
