Movement??

I am 18 weeks along, due Aug 26th..  And lets start by saying, three c-sections, and incision hernia surgery in Aug '09. I have had three ultrasounds, and just saw the doctor last week and heard the heartbeat.  I have had three kids and always have felt alot of movement by now.  I feel close to nothing.  Just some swishing.  Has anyone had hernia surgery?  The doctor really cant tell me anything.  He said my uterus might be numb, and I might have air pockets?  I am really worried.. Can anyone tell me anything??

Thanks guys, that does make me feel alot better.. I mean with my three boys I felt things very very early, I was doing kick counts at 15 weeks.  And this one, it took 10mins just to find the heart beat at 16 weeks, we couldnt even find it at 12 weeks and had to have my third ultrasound.  I am not do for another ultrasound until april 5th, I should be 20 weeks by than.  I dont even get flutters really, maybe once a week.  Oh well just have to ride it out and see, nothing I can really do about it.. I mean I look pregnant that is for sure.  I am hoping this is just a laid back little girl!!  I need to have a girl, I am done after this..

I am 19 and 4 days and just started feeling the baby move about a week ago. I was worried for a while because I didn't feel the baby.

Im not completely sure what the problem could be. I am thinking that maybe you have a lot of scar tissue that is keeping you from feeling a lot of movement. You are still only 18 weeks which is when most people start to just feel flutters. I am 20w5d and Im not feeling any distinct movement just swishes and flutters, I am on my sedcond child. I had surgery to remove an ectopic in 07 and I am ultrasensitive so I feel more in that area than anywhere else. I would not be worried about it, some people don't have much movement until after 22 weeks.

Oops I forgot to mention I had a lapracsopy done and 2 c-sections and always after surgery my tummy would be bloated due to the air pockets.

From where I come from, if you have had quite a number of surgeries, you will get air pockets in your stomach and hence you would find you have bloatedness in your tummy due to the air/gas. It is always recommendable that after a surgery most people in my country drink ginger to relieve the air pockets/or what we call "wind in the stomach".  After giving birth we are also asked to consume alot of ginger to relieve the wind in the stomach as well which also causes flatulence. For me, when I do have wind in the stomach, I don feel my baby move much either. Its only when its gone then I can feel more distinct movements.

I'm sorry, I can't tell you much. I've never had any surgery but it does make sense that there might be nerve damage or numbness from the scarring. I've never heard of air pockets.
