I live in Yosemite National park, and live 2.5 hours away from my hospital. Originally, I was sure that I'd have enough time to get to the hospital - this is my second child, so I'm not worried about "knowing" if it's time. I'm feeling nervous no, though - what if this is a really fast labor?
Along the way, we not only have an excellent medical clinic here, but there are multiple hospitals/emergency/urgent care clinics along the way, so no worries there if anything seems to be going wrong. Also, many women have told me that my body will "know" I can't have the baby along the way, labor might slow down during travel.
Am I playing too risky of a game by not moving down to the city before my due date? Or should I be fine, knowing that we will start our traveling as soon as it feels like the real deal?
