Contractions?

It feels like someone is shoving a knife and stabbing me in my vagina. Are these contractions?? It's so painful to the point I can barely walk. But when I lay down they go away unless I move or something.?

I called my doctor the other day thinking i was having the begining of labor pains and they told me to lay on my left side and drink some water then if it continues start timing them to know if they were really contractions (im also a ftm) i called because of severe back pains and wondering about back labor! Being a first timer is hard not knowing what to expect but its nice having all the ladies here to talk to!

They are called lighting pain! This is due to the baby's head being in your pelvic bone area! I was told that if it's true contractions (cus I'm a ftm) no matter what you did you would not get any relief! I have my son do these lighting pains to me all the time....takes my breath away and some times makes me jump straight up in the air!

Its probably just pressure from your baby dropping into your pelvis! Ive had some really bad pains too and when you lay down your babies weight isnt pressing on your pelvis so bad. Im 37 weeks! And my little boy is puts a lot of pressure on my tailbone and vagina and now the pressure seems to be spreading into my bikini line area
