Jaundice & Strep B!

So my baby has a little jaundice but its going down. She can't go home for another day because my placenta tested positive for group b strep! But a week earlier my culture was negative! So I have to wait another day to find out the results of her culture..... I am one anxious mama! I was going to breast feed but the pediatrician wants me to supplement until her jaundice goes away. I'm all ok with that. What I'm not ok with is them not bringing my baby to me to breast feed BEFORE supplementing! I haven't seen her since 645 am at her last breast feeding. It's going on 11:15 now! I am pissed because I know they had to have gave her formula since its been soo long between breast feeding!

I got her latching really well now. Keeping her awake is the hard part. Haha they switched to a cup thing instead of a nipple. :) much better now. And I'm pumping to help my milk come in. So she feeds on a side and then I pump it. Then I send her with the milk back to nursery to be under the lights. :)

I would be super pissed off I can understand for health reasons wanting to supplement formula however breast milk is the best thing for baby and they shouldn't introduce things that will mess up with the baby latching on...I would voice my concerns more to them and be pushy, it's your baby and you have rights.... sorry If I come across a but strongly on this but I have been stuff like this before with my friends and if you aren't pushy and vocal they will walk all over you

They told.me they would use a cup thing to feed her formula but they didn't. That's why I was soo mad. She was doing great at breast feeding and they did that, now she doesn't want to latch. :(

Oh wow, that is kinda weird that they would just start bottle feeding her especially if they knew your great desire to breast feed. But I do understand that they did it for her health. It would be nice to be informed first. My advice would be to just go with the flow and don't let it ruin your joy of having your little princess here. I'm sure when the time comes you will be able to get her used to the breast. BE HAPPY MOMMY :D
