There is some research done on names: what parents regret most or are happy with still years after, social effects etc You can google that too.
Names most parents are most happy with years after, are names with meaning. Can be the meaning of the name itself, a myth/story around the name, a namesake you are/were close with, a historical figure...
Biggest regrets: unoriginal/popular names with alternative spelling to make it more original: name still sounds and basically is the same, but your child can spend his/her life having to spell it. And just not to weird names to avoid the spelling issue in general, or teasing (keep an eye on initials and rhyme words too).
I liked looking for names by meaning search.
My boy will be Leander - a greek name meaning Lion Man (he'll be a Leo lol) or man of the people, and he's a great swimmer in the myth (i do choose to ignore the tragic ending tho lol). But i like the sound of the name a lot, it's original, yet classic and not weird. And my husband likes it a lot too lol. Now my little lion just needs to be born lol
But there are plenty of sites with meaning search out there, or that give you famous namesakes etc. Google is your friend!
