I'm a little over 11 weeks at the moment, waiting to get an appointment with my community midwife . They do their first appointment at 12-16 weeks which is later than a lot of places but as long as you are feeling ok then it is fine to wait to go to your first appointment. A suppliment for folic acid is a good idea for the first 12 weeks (you can start now if you want) but you don't need a full multivitamin if you eat a nutritious diet and are well. Best of luck with the pregnancy! I have taken a multi just from week 6-12, when the pack runs out I'll stop unless my midwife advises me to take suppliments.

" don't be selfish and risk it"  WOW  THATS PRETTY RUDE THING TO SAY.  I highly doubt you grandmother took her prenatal vitamins and yet you are here today !

This poor girl doesn't me to be scared in to thing take you headout of you butt she 9 weeks along with no doctor you don't need to scare her in to thinking she is doing some thing wrong.

And for the record I won't EVER take any vitamin because they make me sick and they don't really do anything  a good diet can't do. this is my second child and my first is a happy healthy loving and smart 7 month old

- according to my midwife a its not necessary to take prenatals.

Take your prenatals. There's a good reason doctorsrecommend them. It's true that moms in the past didn't take prenatals, could drink as much coffee as they wanted, did whatever they wanted, etc... BUT the rates of miscarriages, unsuccessful full term pregnancies, and birth defects were MUCH higher. Don't be selfish and risk it. Do what's best for your baby and find an OB STAT.

I don't take prenatals I didn't for my first baby and I am not for my second baby it is not necessary but if you don't eat healthy and properly and you're not getting all of your fruits and vegetables you should take them

Go to Wal-Mart or any other drug store and get some over the counter prenatal vitamins and folic acid. I know most prenatals have folic in them but you need that extra bit. My mil works for an ob and that's what she had me do until I could get in with my dr.

i Think its important im ftm 12weeks and I havent been to my prenatal appoinments but im taking my pills . my sister didnt go to her appointment til she was 5months but throughout her pregnancy she took the pills . if your diet is healthy you dont have to worry because your baby will be ok otherwise get your hands on some asap so your baby will develop healthy your first trimester
good luck and
God bless
