Breastfeeding moms. Please help.

My milk came in yesterday nobody taught me how to breastfeed so my baby has been only latching to my nipple sometimes. My nipples hurt really bad it stings horrible and my left boob is hard like a rock. What can I do to help the pain? I have the Mandela or linolin cream for the nipples and I started rubbing breast milk on my nipple too. I want to keep breast feeding for a while. My baby was born Friday will it continue to be this way for a while or is it supposed to be painless now?

I agree with Dania1990!!! Nipple shield all the way. My daughter is able to latch on no problem! Best $15 ever spent. I went with the Medela (recommended by my sister). Day 3 and day 10 according to her are the painful days where you will feel engorged. All I have to do is touch my breast and it instantly starts leaking. She forewarned me that day 11, you think that you have no milk, because they are so deflated, but she said there is milk there. Your body has just adjusted itself. Heat pads or warm/hot cloths are a godsend.

Nipple shield!!! Plus your boob is full, if you don't pump out it will be harder for your baby to latch on that boob plus it hurts like crazy. See if the hospital where she was born has a nursing consultant, (they usually do) even if you are home you can contact them and they will help you. ASK FOR HELP cause I know it is hard and painful. Good luck to you

If you're baby is having a hard time latching, I would try using a nipple shield. You can get one at Wal-Mart or Target for about $8. Using one really helped my baby to latch and also helped with soreness. Also, using a pump will really help you to get the pressure off your breasts for the time being as your breasts try to figure out how much milk they really should be making for your baby.

I know how you feel because with my first baby no one taught me how to feed. I went home from the hospital and every time I would feed I would practically cry each time because it hurt so bad. I had no clue there was a proper way to feed so she would just be on my nipple sucking it sore instead of having some of the areola in her mouth too. My boobs would get rock hard with huge balls inside. Later I got boob infection which caused 104 fever and aches. Long story shortened I had a terrible experience. Just had my second baby and made sure to get help this time around and now I'm successful at something I thought I could not do. Please make sure to seek help with lactation specialist or even online videos with tips and tricks. It makes all the difference. I know you can do it because if I can anyone can!! Hang in there girl! Warm washcloths and frozen bag of peas also help with soreness.

Yes you can. Also if you have a breast pump pumping can help with engorgement. Don't let your boob stay rock hard or you can get a boob infection. When there hard make sure to empty out by feeding and or pumping the milk out. I do both because my boobs are constantly filled with milk even when the baby is full. There's different breast feeding positions and a way to hold your boob for a proper latch. If baby is not latched on properly it will hurt bad when baby is properly latched it should not be super painful maybe just slightly uncomfortable.

Your baby isn't holding your nipple right, i think. Your baby needs to latch on to a big part of your nipple field too, if he/she doesn't your nipples will get sore. I think you can google how to correct this.
Make sure to switch starting boob each feed, helps to balance them. Make sure your baby feeds whenever he/she seems hungry. And well i just reached the painfull stage too, boobs are like huge panful cannonballs lol The nurse gave me a paracetamol and told me it's a stage i have to go through.

I don't know about creams and such, but i know there are nipple covers you can use to let your nipples restore.
