IBS and cramping

I'm 5.5 weeks pregnant and have IBS. I have been having the worst cramping especially at night. No bleeding just gut wrenching pain. If anyone has experience with this please fill me in. It took me over a year of trying to get pregnant and I really don't want anything to go wrong. Also besides heat what can I take. I can't take my normal antispasmodic meds.

Agreed.  And the sudden urge to go doesn't help with the nausea... my friends that DO know that I'm pregnant always think I'm running off to go puke.... Usually I'm running off because I have diarrhea, but I let them think I'm puking because pregnancy is easier to explain than IBS.  :-)

Thanks. This cramping is miserable and I get diarrhea all the time. You can puke anywhere you have a bag but diarrhea is a whole other thing:(

I have IBS as well.  When I was 5-6 weeks I had horrible cramping.  I thought I was going to miscarry it hurt so bad.  It has since subsided.  I'm 8 weeks now and the only time I get any cramping is when I am constipated, and my doctor told me to take Colace for that. As you would know, taking Colace usually opens the flood gates for those of us with IBS and suddenly we go from constipation to days upon days of diarrhea.  Just stay hydrated regardless.  Cramping with no bleeding is OK, and the bloating, for us with IBS, is pretty bad and causes more cramps.
